SCHOLARSHIS For Engineering Students

  • Freshman Academic Achievement Award

    Class Level: Freshman
    Major: Any in Engineering
    Number of Awards: 120
    Amount of Award: $3,000 (non-renewable); $1,500 (non-renewable); $500 (non-renewable)
    Application Deadline: March 1
    Eligibility: Outstanding high school seniors who plan to enroll in engineering.

  • New Freshman LEED (Leaders in Engineering Excellence and Diversity) Scholarship (formerly the Diversity Affairs Scholarship)

    Class Level: Freshman Students
    Major: Any in Engineering
    Number of Awards: Varies
    Amount of Award: Varies
    Application Deadline: March 15

  • Department scholarships

    Class Level: Sophomore, Junior, Senior. For currently enrolled engineering students only.
    Major: Any in engineering
    Number of Awards: Varies
    Amount of Award: Varies
    Application Deadline: Usually March 15, but can vary by department.
    Eligibility: Scholarships generally go to students admitted into a degree-granting department. Pre-engineers may apply for a scholarship if they have also applied for departmental admission.

    Ask about the application process and other scholarship opportunities.

    Biomedical Engineering. Scholarship applications are available for BME students for the Fall 2009-Spring 2010 term. To apply, students must be currently registered as a BME student this semester (Spring 2009). Please complete the application form and return it to the Student Services Office, Room 3182 Mechanical Engineering Building. The deadline is April 15th, 2009.
    Chemical and Biological Engineering. To apply: http://www.engr.wisc.edu/che/current/. The application form is available online or outside of 2035 Engineering Hall. Deadline is early May.
    Civil and Environmental Engineering. An application form is not necessary; all civil engineering students are automatically considered for departmental scholarships.
    Electrical and Computer Engineering
    To apply: http://www.engr.wisc.edu/ece/current/. The application form is may be downloaded online or picked up in the CEE/ECE/GLE Student Services main office (2304a EH). The application deadline is March 31.
    Engineering Physics. An application form is not necessary; all students are automatically considered for the departmental scholarships after they enter the Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or Engineering Physics major.
    Geological Engineering. An application form is not necessary; all geological engineering students are automatically considered for departmental scholarships.
    Industrial and Systems Engineering. To apply: http://www.engr.wisc.edu/ie/current/undergrad/scholarships.html. Visit the department office, 3270 Mechanical Engineering Building, for the application form. Deadline is the first week in October.
    Materials Science & Engineering. Visit 276 Materials Science & Engineering Building for the application form and more information.
    Mechanical Engineering. Information: http://www.engr.wisc.edu/me/current/undergrad/getstarted.html#scholarships. The application must be completed electronically; it will be available online April 15.

  • Grainger Outstanding Power Engineering Student Awards

    Class Level: All Undergraduate and Graduate
    Major: Electrical and Computer Engineering
    Number of Awards: Varies
    Amount of Award: Range from $5000
    Application Deadline: March 15
    Eligibility: These awards are intended to reward highly qualified and motivated students following programs of study in electric machines and drive systems, industrial motion control, power electronics and electric power systems.

  • Polygon Awards

    Eligibility: Outstanding student.
